Daniel Esko

Daniel Esko
General Manager

With a ​20 year background in natural foods, Daniel was born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in the Berkshires​.​ While attending the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, he worked at the Kushi Institute Store in Becket, MA and left ​in 2002 ​to work for Whole Foods Market in Boston, MA.​ Upon returning to the Berkshires in 2004, he started working for the Berkshire Co-op Market​. ​Holding several positions during his ten year tenure at the Co-op from entry level ​receiver and ​stocking clerk to Operations Manager, his work has given him the opportunity to develop extensive expertise in all aspects of the cooperative grocery store model and form meaningful relationships with fellow cooperators​, ​local producers and ​community members. Committed to strengthening cooperative enterprise across the country, he has worked with the greater co-op community to improve sister co-op’s retail operations, support local farms and producers and build a vibrant local economy​. ​Daniel left the Co-op in September of 2014 ​to take the position of Operations Manager at Shire City Herbals, the makers of Fire Cider, where he was responsible for production, financial and operational planning and budgeting. He also served on the Co-op Market’s board of directors from ​November 2014 through June 2015. ​Daniel became the General Manager of Berkshire Co-op in February of 2016. ​​He lives with his wife Sheri and their three children in Dalton, MA, where he enjoys cooking, back yard gardening ​spending time with his family ​and playing music.

Ted Moy
Marketing Manager

Ted has been working in the natural foods industry, in various roles since 2005. His career started in South Burlington, VT where he was hired as a part-time cashier. It quickly became apparent that he had more to offer than great customer service and so Ted found himself working in every corner of the store, for multiple departments. His varied experiences prepared him for the role he eventually took at Berkshire Co-op Market as the Merchandising Coordinator. Here, Ted was hired to guide the store’s aesthetic decisions and direct its promotions and sales programs. Ted now serves as Berkshire Co-op Market’s Marketing Manager and played a key role as coordinator for the store’s successful capital campaign. Ted loves chicken wings and believes the best sandwich is always the second one.

Melissa Payne
Operations Manager

Melissa has 12 years retail management experience in roles varying from department manager to store manager. She has a background as a professional chef and chef-instructor, and has appeared on food segments of local news. Melissa was born and raised in Great Barrington and has strong ties to the community. She loves learning, teaching, cooking, art, and working with kids.

Jordan Archey
Produce Manager

Jordan has served for the past two years as the Produce Manager. She comes to the new job with extensive experience of managing the department and has developed strong relationships with local farmers. She is a true food lover and is always good for recipe ideas… just ask her!

Deirdre is a Co-op veteran, having served in several positions over more than a decade. Deirdre is bringing good things to the grocery staff and to the product selection.

Cian Dalzell
Wellness Manager

If there was an award for most departments worked in the Co-op, Cian might be a shoe-in  He has served in Produce, Grocery, Wellness, Front End and more.  Cian previously served as our Special Projects Coordinator, helping to create systems and efficiency in matters like customer service, training, community outreach and promotions.

He comes to us after extensive experience in the food world including time in restaurants and local grocery stores.  Travis is looking forward to feeding us all with healthy, creative and delicious hot bar food, sandwiches, soups and prepared meals.
